More Huckleberries and Some Lavendar

I picked a bunch of huckleberries this morning. Need to make cobbler tomorrow. Later in the afternoon Doug and I went up and stimulated the economy in Sequim.

Speaking of huckleberies . . .

. . . there sure are a lot of them this year!

What a week!

Memorial Day weekend brought 2 of Doug's favorite boats to Port Orchard, along with some of his favorite people!
Penny went home with her Mom and Dad on Monday afternoon, but Theo stayed around and hung out with all the grands in Olalla and Port Orchard.
Bike riding was definitely on his to-do list.
He rode bikes with Grandpa and Uncle Tyler at Point Defiance in the Japanese Garden.













































He was a little stressed, now and then, by being away from his Mom and Dad, but it didn't affect his appetite.
























































Sarah and Penny came back to Olalla and we all headed for Kennewick to celebrate with the Schilling/Roseberry family at Martha's wedding shower. It was quite a bit hotter than we coastal types had anticipated.
But, we remained cute, even in the face of temperature in the 90's.
I've included my official m-o-t-b photo. We were taste testing the margarita's and she looked so lovely in her color coordinated outfit.
That's Ellen and Sarah, writing their "2 truths and a lie".
One of these was the water balloon pinata and . . .
they worked just fine for showering the bride!
Somehow, most of these lovely ladies avoided getting wet.
Grandpa Doug and Dave were in charge of Theo and Penny while we were all at the "girl party". When Doug arrived to pick us up and head home, Penny and Theo found they had room for a piece of cake. We left Prosser in the twlight and arrived home at 1:40 am. A good time was had by all, most of the time.

My Mother's Day Report

Tyler fixed us a nice lunch (tempura) after he and Danny shopped for flowers and chocolate, and a six-pack!







We had a surprise visitor, so we took her with us to see Great-Grandmother-Doris. Mom was in a great mood and seemed to be delighted to see us all. Not sure if she recognized us, but I'm pretty sure those tall handsome boys reminded her of Grandad! It was Danny's birthday, too and if I could get my hands on his birthday gift, I'd show you some of the pictures he took. However, I think he takes it with him wherever he goes.

Alycia brought me these sweet flowers: Vintage Stocks! My mom always had stocks in her garden. They smell so good. We were trying to figure out what kind of spice they reminded us of and we both agreed it was cinnamon. For all their ladylike appearance, they smell like red hots!









Doug accidentally got me an mp3 player. Here I am listening to the Old 97's. What a goober!

A Fun Visit With Mom

Doug and I found Mom up and awake on Sunday afternoon. She waved at us as we walked in and smiled just about the whole time we were there. This is not common any more. She is usually asleep, or at least real sleepy, so it was nice to "visit" with her. . .







and share some laughs. We laughed at Doug a lot
but












he is such a good sport!

Lately

Very frosty and cold on Saturday morning (March 21st, SECOND day of spring). These poor
stunted looking bulb bloomers are iced up, as is the . . .

hollyhock I moved last year to a new location. I guess she decided she'd try one more time. So nice to know she's coming back.












Saturday evening we had a nice walk to the Tides, where there was much March Madness in bloom. Doug had his favorite, reuben sandwich and I enjoyed the open face veggie burger.

Adam had just finished being a dishwasher and was tending bar.

Sunday the hummingbirds showed up. This is one of Doug's photos (on my camera - hence the lack of clarity) with the screen still on the window.












After several shots with the screen it just drove him nuts, so he must have stood on the counter so he could get above the screen. (I've done this too, but no birds ever come back to the window when I do.)











This morning Danny and I watched this guy drink up.











This is a shot from Doug's new DV camera. Well, it was new once upon a time. He bought it at Goodwill.
