house pictures

Last Saturday Doug and I went out to the manufactured home store in Gorst to sign some papers and we went into the "floor model" of our house and took a few pictures.

Outside the house is only a little less

of a mess than inside the house is!
This is the only fairly focused picture of a hummingbird I've managed to take in the last few weeks. Hundreds of birdies visited and I snapped dozens of pictures, but they were all pretty useless!
My garden is a one bloom wonder. That peony always just has one bloom, but usually it rains really hard right as it opens so it just all ends up on the ground right away. This year it is hanging around for a few days.
Three varieties of cranesbills in the planter, with penstemon in the foreground.
Sedum blooming.

Annual visit by a

pair of grosbeaks - blackheaded. (photo by Doug, of course. I was thinking of posting some of my fuzzy humingbird pictures, but this is so much better, natch). Also in the wildlife report today: I saw Woody from the kitchen window carrying something across the yard in his mouth and yelled at him to put it down which he did. At first I thought it was a squirrel, but it turned out to be a baby bunny. Just as I figured out what it was the cat appeared and I had to scream at her pretty viciously to get her to run away, which, of course, appeared to have scared the bunny to death. We got the animals into the house and after a few minutes the bunny hopped off to the woods. It did appear to have a wound on its back (inflicted by the cat, I'm sure, previous to Woody's attempt to retrieve the poor thing).
